John Stone is a qualified social worker who has held roles in management and community mental health. His focus is on working with families in a way that uses everybody’s experience, especially children’s. Lynne is passionate about social work, having been employed in statutory child protection for the last 25 years. Margie is a qualified counsellor and educator with particular interests in adult literacy and numeracy, curriculum design and the development of second chance students.
Maureen Little has more than 20 years’ experience in providing budgeting support and money management services. Most recently, she was National Implementation Manager for the Children’s Action Plan, working to establish Children’s Teams throughout the country. Nicola is a registered social worker with experience in child protection in NZ and the UK. Every day we work with children and families to help them make positive, lasting changes. Wilson is a troubled and traumatised nine year old boy, who witnessed his mum die painfully of HIV after refusing treatment, and then had to endure being physically assaulted by his dad who had turned to alcohol to cope with the family’s difficulties.
We aim to make home safe for children and, by building strong families, to contribute to healthy communities that are free from family violence. With a focus on at risk children and families, Family Works helps to build strong families that learn, grow and thrive families that work. We’re part of Presbyterian Support Northern, a charitable social services provider that’s been around for more than 130 years. We’re passionate about strengthening New Zealand families as they face life’s challenges.
