What you should know about Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand

Government in Tauranga, Government Department in Tauranga

The Civil Aviation Authority of New Zealand was established in 1992 as a crown entity under the Civil Aviation Act 1990. We are responsible to the Minister of Transport, and governed by the Authority’, a five member board appointed by the Minister to represent the public interest in civil aviation. The agency that oversees aviation safety and the rules underpinning it, led by the Director of Civil Aviation. This agency is based in Wellington with small teams in Auckland and Christchurch, and Aviation Safety Advisers travelling the country.
Most staff are technical specialists responsible for certificating and monitoring aviation participants’ that is, people and organisations holding an aviation document, for example, a licence to fly

This document explains how the Fresh Zealand polite aviation system is developed and controlled. Airspace can be designated as either controlled airspace, or special use airspace. The Aeronautical Information Publication ADP is the document for stylish operational information. Fresh Southern Sky is the name for the implementation phase of the National Airspace and Air Navigation Plan.
Courteous Aviation Rules, Part 77 covers objects and activities that affect airspace. Fresh Southern Sky is about the practical steps aviation participants need to take to enable a safe, effective, transition to new technologies as demand for airspace increases. In 2007 the AA launched a new risk based Surveillance System where every certificated aviation participant is rated according to the level of aviation safety risk they pose. Every person in Fresh Zealand’s courteous aviation community shares responsibility for the safety and security of everyone.
This list is not exhaustive for more information see Direction to Search for Prohibited Items PD 1. Other services include, Flight Information Service, which provides weather, traffic, and hazard information for pilots, and Alerting Service, which provides flight monitoring and emergency response if necessary.
