What you should know about CERTIFIED BUILDERS ASSOCIATION (CBANZ)
New Zealand Certified Builders is a membership organisation set up by a group of trade qualified builders in 1998. Not only are homeowners guaranteed first class knowledge and expertise when working with an NZCB approved builder, each home is covered by New Zealand’s Halo 10 year residential guarantee for peace of mind throughout the building journey. The affairs of NZCB are governed by a constitution and managed by a Board of 4 Directors , including Chairman, as well as up to two additional Directors. The policy of the Board is carried out by a management team lead by the CE and his staff.
To advise, govern, oversee policy and direction, and assist with the leadership and general promotion of NZCB so as to support the organisation’s mission and needs. I have been self employed for 28 years and started Mike Craig Builders ltd in 2003. I started my own building company, md construction in 1998, working on mainly alterations additions, residential new builds and light commercial. I was elected to the NZCB Board of Directors in 2008, a position I still hold today.
I’m passionate about the building industry and get great satisfaction serving our members on our national board. After joining NZCB in 2009, I have worked on the Auckland Committee and served as Interim President for Auckland, and have been on the Board of Directors since 2012. Having worked in the building industry in various leadership positions for a number of years, I am passionate about the opportunities that NZCB and its members can deliver to the communities of New Zealand. I have over 15 years applied accounting experience and oversee the NZCB Finance department.
I have detailed experience in all aspects of month end accounts, taxation and year end audit processes and am responsible for overseeing all aspects of the monthly accounts for both the NZCB National Support Office and Regional Associations. I am fortunate to work alongside a team of devoted individuals who support me in delivering builder education, new membership processing and supporting members when things go pear shaped on site with clients, councils and subcontractors. I also develop our members' websites and help with any computer or marketing questions our members might have. I am your on the road’ guy for the North Island, delivering trade training nights and roadshows to keep all our members informed with the latest industry trends and regulations.
I have a background as a Trade Qualified Carpenter and have worked in Tertiary Education training ITAB Apprentices. I assist the Chief Executive, and also make travel and accommodation arrangements for other NZCB staff, some of whom travel extensively in order to provide training and other assistance to our members, nationwide. I enjoy working in a member organisation, where all NSO staff are united in their dedication to providing services and assistance to our wonderful NZCB members. I previously worked for a large building company and a tiling business, my husband is also a builder of 30 years.
I also look after the ITAB apprentice guys and girls, ITAB invoicing and Apprenticeship Completion Certificates. The Membership Services team are responsible for the Members ToolShed which services online building contracts, employment agreements, disclosure statements, variation forms as well as an online shop and a heap of relevant industry information. If you need help completing contracts or employment agreements, then give me a call. In the rare occurrence members need help with conflict between sub contractors and the supply chain, I can help with that as well
