Sam Assistant Trainee Manager is new to the team and is keen to learn the motel business. Fast track to 1, April 2014 when the new owners David Helen have taken over the reins and quickly got started with a re landscaping project, the goal being to transform the grounds and gardens into an urban oasis. Sub tropicals and natives have been cluster planted to create deep layers of green foliage. Over time the plantings will become an aggregation of ferns, palms and broad leaves, creating intimate garden rooms and private spaces for guests’.
Next steps include switching our focus to general in room improvements and upgrades
Blue Wave Motel was originally built in 1967 ish and ran under the name Links Motel until 2011 when Nigel and Kana took over the Motel and rebranded it Blue Wave. Blue Wave offers spacious, comfortable accommodation in a quiet central Mount Maunganui location, only 2 bins walk to the beach. Our tranquility location off the busy roads ensure you will have a vast nights sleep. Congrats to Nelson Pines Men's Volleyball team who defended their title for the fourth time. Just departed was the girls' hockey team from Ch Ch Girls College finished the Nationals with a 8th placing out of 30 strange other schools well.

Pleasing Chan was a greatly valued team member and left us in October to travel and trek down south. Further west along the coast, Day St and the headlands around Mt Maunganui beaches are popular and can be surfed at all tides. Our Surfing Encourage Vehicle RSV is also available, subject to availability, to transport surfers’ to where the best breaks are at. A 100 meter stroll to the sandy beach access path that leads to Oman Beach and conveniently located to all that Mount Maunganui has to offer. The worn reception, built in 1967, has been de constructed and a new, begin plan reception is currently being built.
